The State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma has flagged off the distribution of Assorted Food Commodities allocated to Imo State by the Federal Government.
The Governor who was represented at the flag off ceremony held at Nick’s Banquet Hall, Government House Owerri by the Secretary to the State Government, Chief Cosmas Iwu thanked President Bola Tinubu for approving the Assorted Food Commodities as part of his efforts to reduce the impact of Economic Policy of his Renewed Hope Agenda.
The Governor commended Mr. President for his determination to build a viral Economy for the Country, and commended the Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency, Mrs. Zubaida Umar for making the approved food items available to Imo State.
He recalled that the 3 R Mantra Administration has distributed series of palliatives to both indigenes and none indigenes resident in the State and has maintained regular payment of Salaries, Pension and currently paying gratuity to Retiree and has also attracted palliatives from Donor Agencies.
Chief Iwu noted that distribution of palliatives is in continuation of the Government’s resolve to alleviate the effects of the Fuel Subsidy Removal.
Meanwhile, earlier in his Address the Director General of National Emergency Management Agency who was represented by the Acting Zonal Director, Major James Eze, said that the palliative was in fulfilment of President Tinubu’s promise to reduce the impact of the current Economic Downturn being experienced in the Country.
The Acting Zonal Director, Major Eze, disclosed that the President approved the release of forty two thousand tones of Assorted Commodities from the National Strategic Reserve under the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.
Present at the occasion were the Head of Operations, NEMA in Imo State, Mr. IgweNnamdi, Management Staff of NEMA, Executive Secretary of Imo State Emergency Management Agency, Mrs. Onyeuko Priscilla, Covering Duty Permanent Secretary, Economic Affairs Bureau, Cabinet Office Mr. Joe Odoemenam, Local Government Sole Administrators, representative of different Security Agencies in the State.
Others were; the representative of Traditional Institution in the State, HRH Eze Lucky Okoro, the representative of can, Imo State Chapter, Pastor Sunny Odoemene, NULGE Imo State Chapter Comrade Okere Charles, Muslim Community Imo State, AlhajiYahaya SB, special Citizens, Mr. Darlington Nwachukwu, etc.
The high point of the occasion was the distribution of the Assorted Food Commodities.
