A pregnant woman was reportedly killed and several other residents injured in an early morning attack by armed bandits yesterday, in Motokun community of Patigi Local Government Area of Kwara State.
The bloody attack occurred at about 5am when the armed bandits invaded the community shooting sporadically to scare the residents.
Motokun community is about 10 kilometers drive from Patigi, the headquarters of Patigi Local Government Area.
Preliminary report by security sources indicated that several people were shot and a pregnant woman succumbed to her injuries in the Patigi General hospital.
It was gathered that about six people were kidnapped and hundreds of cows rustled.
The casualty figure is still being updated as the situation becomes clearer, the security sources disclosed.
Efforts to reach the spokesperson of the state police command SP Adetoun Ejire-Adeyemi, in Ilorin yesterday were not successful as she did not pick her phone calls.
Bandits invasion of communities in the area has continued despite the efforts of government and security forces to flush them out of the region.
