Staff of Ministry of Information and its Parastatals, have been tasked to be punctual and dedicated to their duties.
This task was handed down to them by the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Chief Declan Emelumba, during his address at a capacity building seminar, organised by the leadership of the Ministry, for its staff and those of its Parastatals.
Emelumba commended the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mrs Paulina Iwuagwu, who was barely one month in office, for her innovative ideas within a short period of time.
He promised to give her all the necessary support to enable her succeed.
Emelumba urged the staff to endeavour to do the right thing always, adding that they will not have problem with any of their superior, if they do the right things always.
Earlier in her address, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Dr. Mrs Paulina Iwuagwu, commended the Commissioner for his immense support to her since her assumption of office.
She said the seminar was intended to re-train staff of the Ministry and its Parastatals, on the tenets of their duty, as Information Officers and Mass Communicators, who have the responsibility of laundering the image of the government and sensitizing the citizens on its activities.
Dr. Iwuagwu asserted that the seminar was the beginning of such capacity building engagement, aimed at upscaling the knowledge of information officers, adding that it was also intended, as a platform for her to familiarize with staff under the Ministry and its affiliate parastatals.
She, however, advised the staff to always make personal efforts to always equip themselves with the ever evolving innovations in the media industry.
The seminar featured lectures by resource persons on: Role of Information Officers part 1, by the Deputy Director of Information, Mr Blessing Emmanuel Chukwudi;
Role of Information Officers part 2, by the Director of Information, Mrs Vera Ugbaja.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the New Imo Civil Service, by the Director of Public Enlightenment, was handled by MrOfolete Marcel, while the importance of ICT in the work place was treated by the Librarian, and ICT Officer of the Ministry, Mr Bright Nwosu.
