The Catholic Diocese of Ahiara Mbaise Catholic Youth Organization (CYON) has bestowed the Youth Ambassador Award on AMAROY Foundation for his numerous efforts towards the growth and development of CYON, the Church and the Society at large.
The elaborate Event, which also featured Ambassadorial Award, Diamond Youth Award, Patron and Patroness Award, Ezinwa Award, crowning of Mr. & Mrs. CYON 2024, AMAROY Foundation gave the highest donation and went the extra mile of providing Food items for Widows and indigents in the Area.
Receiving the Award on behalf of Dr . Roy Kelechi Nwakamma, his Elder Brother, Bar. Ken Nwakamma stated that Dr. Roy Kelechi Nwakamma is a hardworking Philanthropist who derives pleasure in motivating the Youths to aspire to greater heights.
The event, which was organized by the Diocese of Ahiara Mbaise Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) marked the 2024 Diocesan Youth Day and Award Ceremony with the theme: “Those who hope in the Lord will run and not be weary (Isaiah 40:32)” on Saturday September 14, 2024.
In his address at the event, which started with a high mass the Youth chaplain Rev Fr Julian Obilor noted that the youths are not just the future, but also the present.
“We live in a world faced with numerous challenges – inequality , climate change, social injustice, anti Christian activism and more. But I firmly believe that these challenges also present opportunities for growth, innovation, firmness in faith and good works and positive change.”
He charged the young people with the power to: challenge the status quo, break barriers and stereotypes, drive innovation and progress, build bridges and foster inclusivity, push the mission of the Church to enviable heights.
According to him, education is the foundation upon which we build our future, and the Key to unlocking potentials, fostering critical thinking, and developing skills necessary to succeed, adding that catholic education stood the test of time as it continues to grow faith and morals in catholic youths.
The Chaplain urged the youths to embrace life long learning, seeking knowledge, and staying curious.
He also charged them them to be brave, take risks and embrace failure as a learning opportunity, be passionate, committed, and driven to make a difference, be open minded , emphatic, and understanding of others, be a person of prayer for it is profitable to worship the lord in their Youth.
Meanwhile, the President Catholic Youth Organization of Nigeria (CYON) Ahiara diocese, Comrade Victor Anyanwu thanked Dr. KelechiNwakamma for his thoughtful and resourcefulness in empowering the youths.
He commended him for helping the Youths use this auspicious occasion to feed the widows and indigents, adding that godWoulf bless him.
Earlier in his address, the CYON President listed the Projects they embarked upon to include: building of Ahiara diocesean CYON Farm, which will help reduce unemployment in CYON, a good Bus for Evangelism and installation of screens in and outside the cathedral, which was estimated at thirty million naira.
He appealed to the government, awardees and all concerned to make the Projects a reality.
