The pragmatic Lawmaker representing Okigwe zone in the Red chamber of the National Assemby Senator Patrick Ndubueze has counseled that going forward, unimplemented aspects of the National budget should be carried over to the appropriation Act of the next financial year.
Speaking while supporting the motion for the extension of the subsisting budget, the Senator noted that since government is a continuum, merging outstanding aspects of a budget with the subsequent budget would eliminate the issue of application for the extension of the implementation period of a budget and save time for other legislative issues.
This well thought out idea was, not surprisingly, upheld by the Senate President and the entire Senate.
It is worth recalling that the discussion arose in the Senate following the request of the executive for an extension of the 2023 budget on account of some outstanding sections of the budget.
It is heartwarming that the voice of Okigwe zone is beginning to be heard again especially on national issues that affect the lives of our people.
To God be the glory.
