The Senior Special Assistant to the Speaker of the Imo State House of Assembly, Chief Uchenna Nwoke has lauded the exemplary leadership of Mr. Gabriel Opara, President of Imo State Indigenes Association in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
Chief Nwoke’s commendation highlighted Mr. Opara’s significant contributions to fostering unity, progress, and effective representation for Imo citizens residing in the West African nation.
In a statement released to newsmen in Owerri, Chief Nwoke, a legal practitioner emphasized that Mr. Opara’s tenure as President is characterized by exceptional leadership qualities, symbolising unreserved dedication, foresight, and unwavering commitment to the welfare of his members.
He praised Mr. Opara, an indigene of Umugwueze, Nekede in Owerri West Local Government Area for his patriotism and commitment in piloting the affairs of Imo indigenes in Abidjan, a role that demands delicate balance of diplomacy, community building, and proactive problem-solving.
The Imo Assembly Speaker’s Aide observed that Mr. Gabriel Opara had demonstrated profound understanding of the challenges and opportunities faced by Imo people in the diaspora, adding that his leadership has not only strengthened the bonds among Imo and other Igbo indigenes in Abidjan but also, ensured that their collective voice is heard and respected.
According to Chief Nwoke, Mr Gabriel Opara has effectively created a platform for mutual support, cultural preservation, and socio-economic advancement as well as initiatives that have brought positive impacts.
He said that under Mr. Opara’s leadership, the association has become vital hub for networking, providing assistance to new arrivals, and advocacy for the rights and interests of Imo citizens, underscoring the visible improvements in the organization and coordination of community events, which have served to foster a stronger sense of belonging and identity among Imo indigenes in Cote d’Ivoire.
Chief Nwoke expressed confidence in Mr. Opara’s continued ability to lead the association and assured him of the support and recognition from the leadership of Imo State House of Assembly.
He urged other Imo indigenes in various parts of the world to draw inspiration from Mr. Opara’s exemplary service and contribute positively to their respective communities and Imo State in general.
