From Henrietta Ashikodi, Umuahia

An All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart and former Minister of Mines and Steel Development, Dr. Uche Ogah, has urged his supporters to vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Alex Otti, saying both have performed well and deserve to return in 2027, to complete the good works they are doing in the country and the state.

Ogah stated this at the weekend under the umbrella of Abia Rejoice Movement during the unveiling of the Abia Central Women’s Wrapper, held at Ibeku High School field, Umuahia.

Speaking shortly after the colourful wrapper was unveiled, Ogah said the Abia South Zone wrapper would be unveiled this November, with a different colour, to differentiate the three zones of Abia North, South and Central, adding that every zone has its uniqueness.

He called on his supporters to ensure they win their various polling units, adding that after the elections, those who provide evidence that they delivered their units would be greatly empowered for a job well done.

He said President Tinubu has shown capacity and deserves re-election, adding that Governor Otti has done greatly in infrastructure. He reiterated that before now, many people could not proudly say they are from Abia because of the rot in the system, but today, Abians are proud of the governor and are solidly behind his re-election.

“You must deliver four over four. Governor Otti is supporting Tinubu and we must vote for the two of them,” he said.

The Governor, who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs, Dr. Mrs. Moreen Ahukwa  commended the women of Abia Rejoice for unveiling their uniform and thanked them for their unity of purpose and quest for the re-election of Governor Otti.

She thanked Ogah for providing the platform, adding that she was delighted to see women in their numbers at the occasion and that women are indispensable partners who, if they believe in you, stand by you.

“As you wear these beautiful uniforms, be reminded of what you stand for. I thank your leader, Uche Ogah, for the impact he has made in society. I pray that the unveiling will strengthen you and also remember to vote for all Labour Party candidates,” she said.

In her address, the convener, Mrs. Ngozi Sabina Ogah, wife of Uche Ogah, said the different uniforms for the three senatorial zones do not mean division but a means of identity. She stressed the need to work as a team to achieve their goal.

She urged them to vote for Governor Alex Otti in the 2027 general election, whom she described as a performing governor, and to also prepare for the 2031 governorship election, reminding them that her husband, who flew the flag of the APC governorship candidate in 2019, will be re-contesting.

In her address, the Abia Central Women’s Leader, Mrs. Nnenna Ogbonna, said the unveiling of the Abia Central women’s wrapper signifies the unity, sacrifice and resilience of the women, and their support and love for their principal, Dr. Uche Ogah, and his wife is overwhelming.

“Your sacrifice, unity of purpose and love for our leader and his wife have made this project possible and a success. Our principal, Dr. Uche Ogah, has severally empowered our women and this time around we have come to fully identify with him. Our supreme leader has spoken that we should vote President Tinubu, the Governor and all other Labour candidates and this we will do. We will continue to support until the ship finally berths in 2031,” she said.

In their remarks, the Labour Party candidate for Ikwuano/Umuahia Federal Constituency, Hon. Obi Aguocha, and the member representing Ohuhu State Constituency, Hon. Anderson Akaniro, appealed to the women to re-elect Gov. Otti in 2027 and also re-elect them. They assured that the support Uche Ogah has been giving them for their re-election, they will also reciprocate in 2031 after Otti might have completed his second tenure.

In his remark, the Director-General of the Uche Ogah Campaign Organisation, Barr. Uchenna Ibe, maintained that Abia Rejoice remains the strongest structure in Abia. He reminded them that as they vote for Mr. President, they should give their remaining votes to all Labour Party candidates.
