…Solicits support , assistance of leaders, stakeholders

Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State has expressed the renewed vigor and readiness of his administration to restore security of lives and properties to every inch, nooks and crannies of the state.

Governor Uzodimma made this disclosure in his address during the stakeholders meeting of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu International Conference Centre (EIICC), Owerri, Saturday, during which he solicited the support and assistance of stakeholders and leaders of the state at various levels to achieve the aim.

He expressed his full support and preparedness for the idea of state Police which is geared towards rooting out insecurity from the grassroots level. He disclosed that his administration has started getting ready for the initiative, with the ongoing training of the state Vigilante personnel, currently made up with five persons from each autonomous community.

He disclosed  that at the end of their training, the personnel will be well armed and equipped like any well equipped military team, adding further, “I am very very ready and prepared now to secure the state”

He berated a situation where miscreants were pursuing leaders and important personalities out of their homes in some communities across the state, leaving the communities in dispair, and at the mercy of criminals.

While  encouraging leaders of APC to be bold and proud of their association with the party, he encouraged those who are still having double mind to take the bold step and come into the party without any further delay, boasting that any person playing politics in the state outside of the APC was making a west of his or her time.

He said, “Any political struggle you want to undertaker, and you are not doing it in APC, I am sorry, you will be like someone in a bicycle, pursuing an Aeroplane”.

He use the opportunity to announce that the Governor of Enugu State (South East) will, by the coming Tuesday join the APC, even as every arrangement had been concluded for Bayelsa State Governor (South South) to also join the APC.

The Imo number one citizen used the opportunity to stress the ongoing empowerment programme of the federal government, through the federal Ministry of Rural Development intended to empower 1000 to 2000 businesses per political Ward in the country.

He regretted that Imo State and South East zone in general was lagging behind, as most Wards and LGAs had not submitted their list, as had been done by their counterparts in other regions of the country.

Uzodimma however promised that the state government will come in through the Ministries, to ensure that the list was properly compiled and made ready, as soon as possible.
