The Imo State Police Command on tuesday arraigned 8 suspects in magistrate court in Imo State for illegal collection of paper tickets which has been banned by the State Government.
The Suspects Include:Franklin Chinonso, Amadi Sylvester, EkeneOkere, Kenneth Amadi, UgochukwuOnugha, AdimegwuOnyemauche, MaduabuchiChinonye, Chukwuma Felix.
The Suspects were arrested along Aba /Owerri Road when they were selling Paper tickets to commercial drivers by Imo State Internal Revenue Service (IIRS) and subsequently handed over to the police for prosecution.
The suspects were charged among other things for forgery, impersonation and illegal collection of paper tickets.
However the suspects pleaded not guilty to the charges profered on them
The Presiding Magistrate of the court, His Worship, B.U.Adikibe however demanded to be allowed to go through the case file hence she remanded the suspects in correctional center in Owerri and adjourned the matter to 15th August, 2025 for bail consideration.
It wouldl be recalled that the State government had in January 2025 banned the collection of paper tickets and introduce E-ticketing .
