Immediate past Hon. Commissioner for Special Duties, Imo State, Hon. Dr. Okey Anukwuem has expressed happiness over the successful conclusion of Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe’s empowerment Programme for youths and the less-privileged persons across the six local government areas of Okigwe zone.
Dr. Anukwuem who spoke to news men at Isinweke, the headquarters of Ihitte-Uboma local government area at the end of the programme, observed that the gesture by Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe, who is presently, Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly and member for Ihitte-Uboma state constituency in the legislative house, would go a long way in poverty alleviation amongst youths and less-privileged persons in Okigwe zone.
Hon. Okey Anukwuem posited that the empowerment programme which featured donation of various items for economic venture and growth, came at the right time, in view of the prevailing nationwide economic hardship. He commended Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe for making six millionaires from across the local governments in Okigwe Zone.
He therefore, advised the beneficiaries who went home with motor bikes, garri grinding machines, palm kernel cracking machines, grass cutting machines, sewing machines, a Sienna car and cash gifts, among other things, to make judicious use of the items as a support in their economic ventures.
According to him, all these things wouldn’t have been possible if His Excellency, Senator Hope Uzodimma did not provide this one- -in-a-life-time opportunity, adding that the governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma has done well for the people of Okigwe zone.
Meanwhile, Dr. Sir Anukwuem has congratulated Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe over his successful completion of one year in office as Speaker of Imo State House of Assembly and member for Ihitte-Uboma state constituency in the house. He also appreciated his colleagues in the House of Assembly who accompanied him to Ihitte Uboma to witness the occasion. He noted that the House members have worked very cordially and harmoniously in the past one year.
According to Okey Anukwuem, with the successful completion of one year in office, Rt. Hon. Olemgbe has laid the foundation for greater achievements in terms of attracting infrastructural projects to Ihitte-Uboma and Okigwe zone in general.
