Over Fifty leaders of the Peoples Democratic party, PDP, Ehime Mbano chapter, have dumped the party and resolved to support the former Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha.
Speaking during their meeting held at the Summit hotels, Owerri, an Apex leader of the PDP, Dr. Professor Darlington Akukwu, thanked them for their steadfastness in their former party.
He noted, that the former PDP was known for its fairness, uprightness, openness and transparency and however regretted, that things started going wrong ever since the former Governor and Apex leader of the party, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha dumped the PDP.
“Members of the party are no loger allowed to say their minds as it affects the affairs of the PDP. Selections are made without the consultation of anybody, and others”.
Professor Dr. Akukwu, who was the former Chairman of the Nigerian Medical Association, NMA, Imo State branch, said, that among the past Imo governors, Ihedioha, who ruled for Seven months, was able to achieve a lot while in office.
“The Imo Governor, Sen. Hope Uzodimma has stated he is going to hand power Owerri zone in 2027. Therefore, the Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha is next Governor of the State. The Ehime Mbano PDP is hereby dumping the party and joining Chief Ihedioha’s Rebuild Imo family”, he said.
Adding her voice, Hon. Mrs Vivian Echeruo, lauded Prof. Akukwu for organizing the meeting.
She noted, the Prof. Akukwu is man that has shown capacity, and a dependable stakeholder that has carried them along in the scheme of things and that they have determined to throw their weights behind Ihedioha.
She used the medium to urge members of the group to spread the information about their exit from the party in their wards and their support for the former Governor Emeka Ihedioha.
A former Vice Chairman of the PDP, Mr. Cyril Ejimkonye, explained, that he had already left the party and followed Emeka Ihedioha whom he said, remains their leader, saying that wherever Ihedioha goes, they would follow him.
Ejimkonye commended Prof.Dr. Darlington Akukwu for sponsoring the group and for his sacrifices towards ensuring that they continued to support the Rt. Hon. Ihedioha.
“PDP is now a dead party in Ehime Mbano.I left the party with my all supporters drumming our support for Chief Ihedioha in line with our Apex leader, Prof. Akukwu’s vision.
A former Caretaker Chairman, Hon. Mbaegbu Aloysius, former Ehime Mbano LGA Youth Leader, Hon. Nick Obilor, Hon. Udeagwu, Elder Nwobodo Anyanwu, Mr. Herbert Osuagwu, Mr. Udeagwu, An ex Organizing Secretary of the party, Nze Augustine Diala, Mayor JoJ Oguguo and former Deputy Chairman of the party, Mr. Ikechukwu Madu in their separate speeches, at the stakeholders’ meeting, showered praises on Dr. Akukwu whom they described as Onwa Ehime Mbano.
They thanked the Ehime Mbano LG Peoples Democratic Party, PDP Apex leader, Prof. Dr. Darlington Akukwu that just dumped the party with other stakeholders, including over 250 members, describing the medical luminary as a visionary leader.
