The Abia State Police Command said it has arrested a butcher for stabbing his customer in the neck with a pair of scissors following a disagreement over the price of meat.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, DSP Maureen Chinaka, the incident happened at Orie Ugba market in Umuahia
The police spokesperson said operatives of Central Police Station visited the crime scene, adding that the victim, who was rushed to hospital, is currently responding to treatment.
“The Abia State Police Command is aware of the incident that occurred at Orieugba Market on 14/03/2026, where a meat butcher stabbed his customer in the neck with a pair of scissors following a disagreement over the price of meat,” Chinaka said.
DSP Chinaka said that the suspect is presently in police custody, while investigation is ongoing.
She added that the suspect will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigation.
