The Managing Director Imo State Water and Sewerage Corporation, Enger Peter Chukwuma has described the World Water Day celebration as a global event that reminds the nation the importance of water to human beings.
Engr Peter who disclosed this in an interview with STATESMAN in his office Owerri, that every 22nd of March the nation celebrates World Water Day, adding that after air, water is the most important thing to human beings
The Managing Director noted that the theme of this year World Water Day is “Glacier Preservation” which showcase the contribution of human beings towards preservation of water, and made it clear that human beings needs water in two ways, quality and quantity.

Peter stated that the event offered an opportunity for Imo State Water and Sewerage Corporation to urge Imo indigenes to desist from littering the environment and shun open defecation, in order to reduce cost of water treatment in the state.
He said that the event also aimed to carry out campaign for total behavioural change of human being towards water supply and stressed the need for Imo people to use water judiciously.
He commended the State Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma for his efforts to provide portable water supply to residents of Imo State and called on Imo indigenes to protect water infrastructures, made them to understand that the present administration led by Governor Uzodimma is passionate about water supply in the state.
