… Urges institution to take registration of births, deaths, others,  serious.

By Senator Onyekwere

The Federal Commissioner representing Imo State in National Population Commission (NPC) Abuja,Prof Uba Nnabue has urged the Imo State University Community to take the vital registration of births, deaths and birth attestation services offered by NPC very serious.

Prof Nnabue made the call when he paid a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor Of IMSU,Prof U.U Chukwumaeze  (SAN) in his office.

The Federal Commissioner informed the Vice Chancellor and the management of the Institution that besides census, NPC offers other services which are provided by the constitution.

Nnabue explained that birth registration of infants from zero to 17 years of age is free and that attestation of birth certificate is for adults from 18 years and above, adding that birth registration gives such a child an identity both locally and internationally.

He therefore called on the Imo State University Management to collaborate with the NPC to ensure that children of such ages and adults of 18 years and above are registered.

“By so doing, we together shall enrich the population data bank of Imo State and Nigeria.”

In response, the Vice Chancellor of IMSU, Prof U.U Chukwumaeze welcomed Prof Nnabue and his team and expressed readiness of IMSU Management to partner with the commission.
