The Presidency has reacted to a post on social media purportedly showing US President Donald Trump criticising Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu over the Monday sucked bombings carried out by Boko Haram terrorists.
Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communications, Sunday Dare, dismissed viral post as “fake”, and called on the public to disregard it.
The viral post claimed that Trump described the situation in Nigeria as a “TOTAL DISASTER” and criticised Tinubu for being abroad on a “State Visit” in the United Kingdom while attacks, including suicide bombings in Maiduguri, reportedly took place.
The message urged immediate action to protect citizens and close borders, suggesting that Tinubu was neglecting his leadership duties.
But Dare urged the public to verify information before sharing, adding: “This post does not exist on any whitehouse.gov platform or any of President Donald Trump’s social media pages. Verify before you post.”
