An spirant, for Owerri West Local Government Area Chairmanship seat, Engr. Jeffta Peters Osondu, has expressed his desire to run an all – inclusive government if elected as Chairman in the September 21 Council polls.
Osondu, who is contesting, under the All Progressives Congress, APC, gave this assurance while declaring his interest to run for seat, at the Ihiagwa Civic Centre, his hometown, on Monday, July 29, 2024.
He said, that he has a deeply- committed spirit to the progress of Ihiagwa community, the entire Owerri West and Imo State in general and that he has the vision to make the LGA a model of development and good governance.
According to Ofondu, a liaison offices will be established in each of the community whose primary purposes, he said, will be to enhance communication and corporation, facilitate a close working relationship between people and the council headquarters so that his people can have access to holding him responsible for his actions or inactions.
The aspirant lamented, “The state of our local roads is a matter of urgent concern. Our roads are the life wire of our community, facilitating commerce, transportation, and daily inter- community activities. I propose a comprehensive plan to tackle our local roads by grading and paving them every dry season”.
He also assured of providing a health insurance for Windows, the elderly and pregnant women, renovate classrooms to enhance good study environment, sanitize Town union government’s to ensure maximum effectiveness, equip their security vigilance organizations, empower youths, introduce back -to-school programme, partner with environmental protection agencies that will run their waste meaningfully,
Earlier in his speech, One of the prominent sons of Ihiagwa community and the former Chairman, Ihiagwa Town Management Chairman, Engr. Emeka Udokporo, ably represented by Chief Sam Ajoku, said, people of the area are happy for the interest of Engr. Osondu to run for the Owerri West Chairmanship seat.
He assured him of their support and that people of Ihiagwa have resolved to vote for him during the September 21 Local Government Area election.
Presenting the aspirant, Engr. Osondu to Ihiagwa community, The Chairman of their aged grade, Mr. Basil Nwosu, described him as a businessman and son that will make them proud if he wins the election.
Also speaking, the Chairman, Ihiagwa Management Committee, Chief Kenneth Mgbachi, A woman leader, Mrs Lovet Anuforo, and an APC stalwart, Mrs. Chioma Nwigwe, said, that the aspirant, Engr. Jeffta Osondu is their son in whom they are well pleased.
The declaration ceremony attracted sons and daughters of the area, even those that are not APC members.
