The Imo State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs Ruby Emele, has called on individuals and corporate organizations to rally round the Imo state Government so as to continue in the giant strides of delivering democracy dividends to the people.

Speaking during her investiture, as the National Patron of SECDA, she expressed profound appreciation for the recognition, thanking SECDA for entrusting her with the honour.

She described the association as worthy because of its focus on economic emancipation, human capacity development, and community advancement, assuring them of her full support.

The Commissioner also highlighted that SECDA’s objectives align with the vision of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s administration, which has championed infrastructural renewal, workforce reforms, and human empowerment. She urged stakeholders to continue supporting the 3R agenda, describing the Governor’s leadership as transformative for Imo State.

Hon. Emele further encouraged SECDA to expand its scope in youth-focused initiatives, stressing that empowering the younger generation is vital to addressing socio-economic challenges facing the South East.

Earlier, the group had described Mrs. Rubby Emele, as an outstanding personality that has touched many lives.

The Commissioner was also decorated as National Patron of the South East Communities Development Association, describing her appointment as a boost to the group’s vision for grassroots development and regional integration.

The national coordinator of SECDA, Engr. Isidore Ehochi, who performed the ceremony insisted that her selection followed a careful evaluation of her contributions to community growth and  track record of service.

The coordinator maintained that partnership between SECDA and the local government Ministry will energize the group’s activities.

Engr. Ehochi also announced that SECDA is preparing to host a South East Regional Economic Conference in Owerri to promote sustainable development across the zone.

The event, he disclosed, will highlight empowerment for widows and vulnerable groups, as well as discuss pressing regional challenges such as insecurity.

The SECDA head called on the Imo State Government and other stakeholders to rally support for the initiative.

Outlining SECDA’s upcoming programmes, which include: Cooperative Loan Schemes, Agricultural Development Projects, Inter-LGA Unity Football Competitions, and ICT-driven youth talent promotion, Ehochi highlighted SECDA’s preparedness to collaborate with the newly inaugurated South East Development Commission (SEDC) to accelerate regional progress.

Speaking during the ceremony, the Chairman of the Organizing Committee and former Njaba LGA Chairman, High Chief Dr. Eddy Ikwubuo, expressed confidence in SECDA’s mission to advance the South East even as he described Chief Emele as a fitting choice for National Patron, noting that her leadership and influence would help in actualizing the association’s goals.

The event drew the participation of key SECDA officers, including Hon. George Okorie, Pastor Magnus Esonwune, Evangelist Ifeanyichukwu Ibe, Mrs. Ifeoma Chibuike, and Mrs. Madu Francisca, who all pledged their commitment to the association’s vision for regional development.
