Suspected bandits have abducted five residents and rustled four cows in Kasheshi Kura village, Birnin Magaji Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The incident occurred around 9:00 am on Sunday.

According to a post yesterday by security analyst, Zagazola Makama, on X, the attack may be linked to the activities of one Ibrahim Shaibu, popularly known as “Gwanda,” a local member of the Community Protection Guard, CPG.

Gwanda was said to have previously collaborated with Civilian Joint Task Force, CJTF, operatives deployed to the area before their withdrawal.

Sources said the bandits may have launched the attack in retaliation for his involvement with the security volunteers.

Efforts are ongoing to rescue the victims and recover the rustled animals, while security presence has been increased in nearby communities.
