Imo State House Of yesterday celebrated third anniversary in office.

Presenting his address, the speaker of the House Rt Hon Chike Olemgbe noted that for the last 36 months, the House has held over 555 Plenary sittings and numerous committee meetings, considered more than 52 bills and passed 40 into law.

Olemgbe said that the House has also treated over 210 motions and petitions from citizens who believe that the House is their last of defence, adding that they have debated, amended and sometimes rejected proposal that did not serve the public interest.

The Speaker highlighted the landmark laws made by the Imo House Of Assembly that will shape States’s future for decades such as Imo State Electricity Commission Law, Teachers Service Elongation Law,Imo State Persons With Disabilities Law.

He pointed out that the work ahead includes to ensure the electricity commission becomes operational and delivers power to most LGAs by 2027, Monitor the full implementation of the disability law, push for the upgrade of the secondary health facilities in every zone, strengthen local Government so that development gets to the grassroots.

He made it clear that the 10th Imo State House Of Assembly has proved that a State legislature can be both independent and responsible and have shown that laws can be made not for politics, but for people.

He made them to understand that the House deliberately decided for a low key celebration because of the state of the nation especially in honour of the abducted children in Oyo .

He thank the State Governor Senator Hope Uzodimma for his cooperation and his colleagues for their most valuable cooperation and sacrifice.
