… Injured hubby in critical condition

A middle-aged woman, Mrs. Chioma Ogu, was on Monday, killed as truck,  loaded with chippings rammed into their residential building.

The incident occurred at Iho in  Ikeduru local government area of Imo state.

The deceased, a mother of three, whose injured husband is currently lying critically in the hospital, was said to be preparing for her late mother’s burial this weekend before she met her untimely death.

Statesman reporter, who visited the accident scene, gathered, from sources  that the truck driver was allegedly  sleeping  before  he lost control,  veered off the road  and consequently crashed into the building.

According the sources also, the incident occurred late Monday night, when residents of the area had already settled in their homes, and some already sleeping.

All attempts to reach the Police Public Relations Officer of the Imo Police Command, Henry Okoye, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) were unsuccessful, as he  did not pick his  phone calls at the time of filing this report.
