Imo State Governor,  Senator Hope Uzodimma, has been nominated by the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja, to preside as Chairman, over her 2025 Diocesan General Assembly.

The Assembly brings together clergy, religious, and lay faithful, from across the Archdiocese to ” reflect, renew,and re-energise our shared commitment to the liturgical and spiritual life of the Church in Abuja. ”

In a letter to Senator Uzodimma,  the Archdiocese disclosed that he was chosen because of his deep commitment to the growth and unity of the Catholic Church, especially, in Abuja.

According to the letter signed by Rev. Fr Ihesinachi Marcel Livinus ,on behalf of Archbishop Ignatius Kaigama,  the Metropolitan Archbishop of Abuja,  Uzodimma’s ” Leadership and presence at this major gathering will inspire many and significantly contribute to its success. ”

The letter further explained that Uzodimma’s role as Chairman would involve delivering a brief opening address, and offering support for the  vision and mission of the Assembly.

The Assembly, which opens on Thursday, August 28th, and closes on Saturday, August 30th, 2025, has as its theme:  FAITHFULNESS TO THE LITURGY: A LITURGICAL VISION FOR A HOPEFUL FUTURE IN ABUJA ARCHDIOCESE.
