The management of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK) has expelled a TikToker-student,, from the institution for assaulting a lecturer.
The Acting Registrar of the University, Victor Modebelu, disclosed this in an expulsion letter dated Thursday, February 13, 2025, addressed to Chimamaka.
Modebelu said the Acting Vice-Chancellor of UNIZIK had received the report from the Student Disciplinary Committee on the students assault on a lecturer from the Department of Theater and Film Studies.
According to the letter, Chimamaka was found to be guilty of gross misconduct and violation of the Students Disciplinary Regulations, particularly Regulation 4.
The Ag. Vice-Chancellor, consequently, on behalf of the University Senate, approved the Committees recommendation that you be expelled and you are hereby expelled from Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, the expulsion letter stated.
Meanwhile, the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, Nnamdi Azikiwe University branch has written to commend Dr. Chukwudi Okoye, a lecturer with the university who was bitten and assaulted by the female student of the university.
Okoye, a lecturer in the department of theatre and film studies had on the day of the incident excused himself to pass through a hallway where the student was making a Tik Tok video, when she attacked him for disrupting his video.
In a letter signed by the Chairman and Secretary of ASUU, UNIZIK branch, Kingsley Ubaoji and Joseph Onyejiaka respectively, they commended him for remaining calm in the face of such provocation.
Some students who do not know they are on campus for academic studies should learn from Chimamaka’s mistakes.
