Pope Francis, the head of the catholic church in a post on X, yesterday, condemned the kidnappings and rising insecurity in Nigeria.
The Pope who took to his personal X account to bemoan the unfortunate security situation in Nigeria said that The increasingly frequent kidnappings in Nigeria are extremely concerning “I express my closeness in prayer to the Nigerian people, hoping that efforts will be made to contain the spread of these incidents as much as possible.”
The Pope has previously expressed concern about the insecurity and violence in Nigeria, particularly in the northern regions where attacks by extremist groups like Boko Haram and clashes between herders and farmers have caused significant suffering and loss of life. He has called for peace, dialogue, and reconciliation among different religious and ethnic groups in Nigeria.
Pope Francis’ messages regarding insecurity in Nigeria reaffirms his commitment to promoting peace, justice, and solidarity around the world.
Furthermore, the pope called for attention to the rising menace and assured that he was praying for the country and its citizens.
