Troops of the Nigerian military have successfully killed two bandits as they attempted to collect ransom in Mai-Iddo village, located in Kachia Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The criminals were making attempts to collect N1.5 million in exchange for four hostages, who were abducted the previous week when they met their Waterloo. The victims included three women and a child.

Reports indicated that the military worked in coordination with local vigilantes and a family member of the victims, setting a trap for the bandits.

The arrangements had been concluded with the troops with the man who will be taking the ransom to them and a vigilante. On getting to the particular location, the troops took cover.

As two of the bandits came out to pick the ransom, the troops opened fire at them and killed the two of them instantly, a community leader told Daily Trust.

The operation led to the safe rescue of the four captives, who have since been reunited with their families.
