President Julius Maada Bio arrived New York yesterdau, to lead his country at the UN Security Council, the highest decision making organ of the UN. The session commences on Monday, 12, 2024.

President Bio, looking upbeat and high spirited on arrival in New York, revealed that he would chair a session where he would continue his advocacy for UN reforms, particularly a permanent seat for Africa at the Security Council.

Bio further revealed that about 70% of today’s world crisis are in Africa, but the continent is not represented in the UN Permanent Security Council Seat. This, to him, is grossly unfair.

South Africa, Egypt, Nigeria and Kenya are fully supportive of Bio’s stance on the matter.

President Bio is expected to receive a detailed briefing today from the country’s permanent representative to the UN, Michael Imran Kanu and the Foreign Affairs Minister, Timothy Kabba.
