Police in Anambra State, working in concert with community vigilante operatives, have apprehended four persons connected to the killing of a community leader in the state.
Mr Silas Onyima, the President General of Umuoji community in Idemili North Local Government Area of the state was last weekend killed in his home.
A press release by the spokesperson of the state police command, DSP TochukwuIkenga stated that four suspects have been arrested.
He said: “The handset and ATM Card of the deceased were recovered from them. In their confession, they named four other accomplices who are now being hunted for by the Police.”
He said the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye commended the Police in Ogidi and Umuoji Vigilante for working together to apprehend the suspected perpetrators, and has directed the State Criminal Investigation Department to deploy its Forensic Team to take over the investigation.
The command assured Presidents-General across the State that their safety was of primary concern to the Police as they represent their people in governance by their town unions.
