Irked that Isiekenesi indigenes in Ideato South Local Government Area of Imo State have been denied democracy dividends, people- oriented leader, Chief Cyprian Chukwuma Obiagwu, has joined the political race to vie for Councillorship position of Isiekenesi Ward 1 in the Imo September 21, 2024 polls.

Acccording to him , his victory at the polls will change the ugly narratives.

Obiagwu, who expressed utmost willingness and preparedness to give his Ward a fresh breath of leadership, picked the APC Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms for the Councillorship seat on Monday at the State Party Secretariat in Owerri.

Speaking to journalists after obtaining the forms, Obiagwu observed with dismay, the level of underdevelopment his community has witnessed over the years, irrespective of their representatives in government.

Pointing out that their past representatives never considered their plight, ignoring their woes, deplorable roads, moribund Healthcare Centres, lack of facilities in market environments , the contestant rated the representation of their past leaders zero.

He regretted that their representatives failed them, by not allowing the people to feel the positive impact of fair, democratic representation.

He noted that the pitiable condition of his community spurred him to aspir for the position, and to be a strong voice in Ideato South Council, for the betterment of the people, begining from immediate Constituency, Isiekenesi Ward 1, which he recounted, comprises Isieke, Umuaghobe and Awalla.

Obiagwu enumerated some of his agenda that would enhance the progress of his community and LGA at large if elected, to include women and youth employment, empowerment, infrastructure, security, transportation, promotion of people’s culture, tackling drug abuse, among others.

The aspirant, who hinted that he had worked as a nurse in USA, said he would ensure that his people benefit maximally from dividends of democracy, adding that he would run open-leadership, where dividends of democracy and allocation would be evenly shared among the people.

“I am running for the position because, my people are lacking so many things, and the dividends of democracy is not getting to the people. I’m running for Councillorship with a clause, which is, to have a say in the Council and be the voice of the voiceless. I will use myself to show what true politice is. I will go down to every village, to know their challenges and then, know how to tackle them. My representation will ring bell in Ideato South, if I’m elected,” Obiagwu maintained.
