The chairman, Imo State Council of the Nigeria Union Journalists (NUJ), Comrade Ifeanyi Nwanguma, Wednesday inaugurated the new executive members of Imo Newspapers Chapel of the union.

In his address during the inauguration, Nwanguma described Imo Newspapers Chapel as one of the bedrocks of Imo State Council of NUJ, adding; “you can’t discuss NUJ in Imo State without Imo Newspapers Chapel.

He urged the new exco to make concerted effort to bring the chapel back to its rightful position in the scheme of things, urging the exco and entire members to always attend the state Congress (meeting) of the union and also make sure their records with both the state and national bodies are adequately updated.

He promised his support for the chapel, while giving the executive express permission to approach him for any level of assistance they may require to achieve their mandate.

Adding his voice, the South East zonal Secretary of the union, Comrade Eze Adiukwu encouraged the exco to explore every legal means to boost their membership, including welcoming those who are not staff of Imo Newspapers, but may wish to federate (join the chapel).

In his acceptance speech, on behalf of the entire exco members, the newly inaugurated chairman of the chapel, Senator Onyekwere, while thanking the NUJ chairman and his team for their magnanimity in coming to inaugrate the new exco in such a short notice, promised that the exco members will put in their best effort to lift the chapel to an enviable height.

Other executive members of the union inaugurated were; Jude Onyenedogha _Secretary, Anthony Nnamdi Ahize _Assistant Secretary, Joseph Nwaogu_ Financial Secretary and Ezinne Ude_ Internal Auditor.

Other executive members who were not able to make it to the inauguration ceremony, will, according to the chairman, be given the grace of being inaugurated during the state Congress of the union at the NUJ Press Center, off Port Harcourt Road, Owerri.

Highpoint of the event was the administration of oath of office on the new executive members, by the South East zonal Secretary of NUJ, Comr. Eze Adiukwu.
