The Vice Chancellor of the newest private University, in Abia state, Madeus University, Amizi, Ikwuano, LGA, Prof. Samuel M. Nzotta, has said that the founder of the University was bringing to the people of Nigeria, a world class, digital University where research, cultural innovation will be topnotch, with the aim of producing graduates who will be job creators and not job seekers.
Nzotta, with his Management team revealed this on Thursday at the University premises during a world press conference. He said the university was established in October 2024 and will be matriculating 40 pioneer students on Saturday February 8.
The VC called on the Federal Government to review the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) mode of operation, to enable the intervention body provide Research Grants to scholars in private universities.
He hinted that the vision of Amadeus University is to produce globally competitive, morally sound and practically-oriented graduates that will positively impact on social sustainable development.

Prof. Nzotta said the mission is to create a conducive environment for learning, functional and purposeful infrastructure, for the production of self-employable and productive graduates.
He revealed that the Proprietor of the University, Dr. Godwin Nwabunka and the Chairman of the BOT of Grooming Centre is the sole financier of the University since inception, adding that he has provided all the funds (capital and recurrent) needed for executing the projects as specified in the Master plan of the University.
He noted that onset, the University has prioritized research as an important pillar of its academic activities. As a result, the University instituted holistic research activities, generally as a framework for scholarship.

Prof. Nzotta disclosed that the Founder/Proprietor of Amadeus University has provided an initial research fund of $10 million to kickstart research activities in the University.
“This is well appreciated and points to the direction of research activities in the system. The University Administration has also put in place various strategies to attract additional research grants from international funding agencies and corporate bodies”.

Prof. Nzotta disclosed that the University, has established a modern and technologically advanced JAMB Computer Based Test (CBT) Centre on Campus, to increase the visibility of the University amongst prospective admission candidates.

He noted that the CBT Centre shall positively affect the inflow and choice of students into the University, during the annual JAMB admission exercise and the Centre shall also reduce the stress candidates undergo during yearly admission cycle.
The VC stated that the University has installed closed circuit cameras (CCTV) in various facilities on campus, especially the hostels, noting further that solar powered street lights were available around the University campus.
He added that the Police post at the campus gate was nearing completion and shall enhance safety of lives and properties on campus.
He said the University has completed the installation of a 250Kw Solar farm on campus, to ensure constant availability of power supply on campus, adding also that the installation of a 500KvA Transformer has reached an advanced stage for a stepdown of electric power from the National Grid.
“The University is committed to providing the students with an exceptional learning experience that extends beyond text books and class room work. The University fosters critical thinking, creativity and a global perspective which prepares students for the demands of a dynamic and ever-evolving world.
“The University has put in place an excellent teaching and learning environment. Modern class rooms, with SMART boards to facilitate effective teaching.
He revealed that verification commenced in earnest in the University after its licensing by the National Universities Commission in 2023, the regulations require that the Commission must conduct a resource verification of the programmes to be mounted by the University. Nineteen (19) programmes under four Faculties were presented to the National Universities Commission team that visited the University in April 2024.
“I am excited to inform you that the official Opening and Matriculation Ceremony of Amadeus University, Amizi is scheduled to hold on February 8 2025. This epoch-making event shall have in attendance the President of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio who shall perform the official Unveiling of the University, as the Special Guest of Honour”.
He named the courses on ground to include , Faculty of Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Faculty of Science and Computer Security, Cyber Security and Information Technology,
Others are Microbiology, Software Engineering. Biotechnology, Forensic Science, Data Science, Faculty of Social and Management Sciences, Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, Mass Communication, Accounting. Economics, Faculty of Allied Health Sciences. MLS Medical Laboratory, Nursing Science, Public Health and Physiotherapy.
