The National Association of Nigerian Students yesterday urged the Group Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, Bayo Ojulari to boost the capacity of local refineries in the country.

NANS national president, Olushola Oladoja, in a statement signed by him, described Ojulari as a thoroughbred professional whose extensive experience, integrity, and proven track record in the oil and gas sector make him the most qualified for the role.

“The students’ body urged the new GCEO to give top priority to the completion and revival of all Nigeria’s refineries, stressing that operational refineries will reduce dependence on imported petroleum products; Save the country significant foreign exchange; Boost job creation and strengthen energy security.

“We task Mr. Ojulari to work relentlessly towards enhancing local refining capacity. Achieving this will boost our economy, improve energy security, and make petroleum products more affordable for Nigerians, “Oladoja stated.

NANS further pledged its readiness to partner with NNPC Ltd under Ojulari’s leadership to promote transparency, accountability, and youth engagement in the oil and gas sector, describing the appointment as a step in the right direction for Nigeria’s future.
