Indigenes of Mbaise have been advised to indulge in active farming in order to quench hunger, as well as increase their income.

This piece of advice was offered by the Vice Chairman of Mbaise Policy Roundtable (MPR), Dr. Law Osondu, while having audience with journalists during the MPR 2025 Annual Global Summit which took place at Chris V1 Hotel in Ahiara Mbaise, Local Government Area of Imo State, last week.

Osondu, who was the former President of Mbaise USA, said the group had held meetings and explored ideas and decided to encourage the people to actively engage in agriculture, a feat he said will change their living conditions positively if prioritized, quenching their hunger, enhancing their finances, dignifying them before the world.

He said Mbaise Policy Roundtable, having the spirit of patriotism and being passionate about the prosperity, progress and development of Mbaise, is very desirous of seeing abundance of food produced, satisfactorily consumed and preserved in Mbaise, a land he described as being blessed with human and material resources.

Also, he urged rulers to rise to the occasion and invest massively in agriculture to strengthen mass food production and proper feeding by citizens who he said expect goodness from government.

“We have had several meetings, had many ideas and decided on the best thing that is good for our people – which is AGRICULTURE. Any nation that does not richly invest in agriculture will spend their money abroad.

“Regrettably, we passed through the civil war when there was no food at all. Our people died because they did not have food. We must not fold our hands and beg for food. Let us Think First for food to eat. Let our people do active farming to have surplus food for consumption and preservation.

“Government at all levels should encourage active farming. Let all Mbaise breed farm extensively. We have sufficient food in the USA and it is bad that while we feed well there, our people suffer for food here. We decided to teach them how to fish and we will continue to encourage our people to cultivate food to quench hunger”, he maintained.

The Mbaise Policy Roundtable 2025 Annual Global Summit, themed “From Farm To Fortune, Tech To Cash, was graced by the former Governor of Imo State, Rt. Hon. Emeka Ihedioha (the Keynote Speaker), Prof. Joseph E. Ahaneku, Program Chairman, Prof. Edward Oparaoji, Chairman/Moderator, MPR, Sir, Joe Anosikeh, President – General, Ezuruezu Mbaise (Father of the day), Prof. Viola Adaku Onwuliri (Mother of the day.), among other dignitaries.
