It was a show of massive and unprecedented support and solidarity from women, youths and elders of Ngor Okpala Local Government Area, Tuesday, as Hon. Chief Mrs Chika Ibekwe picked the chairmanship form of the All Progressives Congress (APC), to contest for the chairmanship position of the LGA.

The youths, women and elders of the area trooped out in their numbers and rolled out the drums to accompany Chief Mrs Chika Ibekwe to pick her form at the APC secretariat, Okigwe Road Owerri. The women were beautifully adorned in their uniform, while most of the youths and others appeared in the branded T-shirt of Chief Mrs Ibekwe.

Fielding questions from newsmen, the youth leader of Okpala, Mr Collins Okereke said he came with all the youth leaders from Ngor Okpala, to show their hearty solidarity to Hon. Mrs Chika Ibekwe, declaring that she is the popular choice of all segments of Ngor Okpala people for the chairmanship position.

He said among all the people who have expressed interest in the position, the stakeholders have checked, reviewed and came to the conclusion that Chief Mrs Ibekwe is more credible, reliable, transparent and accountable.

Speaking, the Ngor Okpala LGA mobilizer of APC, Mrs Juliet Ejealo enthused that Ngor Okpala, both men, women and youths are unanimous in agreement that a woman should be given opportunity this time, since the men have been serving for a very long time.

“We want a woman, Hon. Chief Mrs Chika Ibekwe to go this time around, because if she goes, she will feel our pulse and do things that will alleviate our sufferings. As a mother, she knows the need of mothers and children. If she goes we will be happy, there will be peace, our children will be happy, there will be job for our youths”.

Also speaking, the chairman, “door to door” women campaign in Ngor Okpala, Comr. Onyemauche Ekwugha said they have looked round and considered all the aspirants and concluded that the best candidate for the Executive Chairmanship position is Hon. Chief Mrs Chika Ibekwe.

“She is the one we have brought out for the position. She is the one we will campaign for, because she is the one we need. It will please us for a woman to lead this time. The men have lead for a very long time, we need a change this time around”.

Also fielding questions from newsmen, a close supporter of chairmanship aspirant, Mr Chibueze Chigbu described Chief Mrs Chika Ibekwe as a woman of substance, adding, “I have known her for years. She is a breed we need in that sensitive position at a time like this. She is primed to deliver, and I think the cap fits her. He who the cap fits let him wear.

“We are in alignment with her, giving her the necessary support, to make sure that we get to our destination”, Chigbu enthused.
