The All Progressives Congress (APC), Imo State chapter, has settled for the option of consensus for the primary election of the party, ahead of the forthcoming local government election in the state.

The leader of the party in the state Governor Hope Uzodimma disclosed this during a stakeholders meeting of the party with the aspirants, at the Party Secretariat, Okigwe Road, Owerri, yesterday.

The Governor, who said the decision was reached after consultation with the State Chairman,  leaders and stakeholders of the party, however added that other options; direct or indirect primary may be considered, based on the peculiarities of local governments.

“But, if you agree that there is leadership, you must be in the position to make sacrifice. You win today, you may not win tomorrow, if you don’t win today, you may win tomorrow. So, where we are able to get consensus as a party, we go by consensus, but where it becomes difficult, we go into the contest”, he said.

The state number one citizen said the aspirants must go into the contest in the spirit of one family, bearing in mind that not all who expressed interest in one position or the other will succeed.
