The lady who’s husband attempted to pluck out her eye early this month for suspected ritual case, Chidinma Okpokiri is gradually regaining her sight as doctors described her recovery as miraculous while noting that medically the eyes were dead.
The lady who has been in admission at the FMC Umuahia has been discharged and now reside with her uncle, HRM Eze Allen Okpokiri who is the traditional ruler of Emede Autonomous community, Ibeku, Umuahia. She has also reverted her marital status and now bears her family name.
The incident which touched the heart of wife of Abia governor, Mrs Precilia Otti who visited her in the hospital and also offset her hospital bills.

The governor wife on her visitation on Sunday at the Palace of Eze Allen Okpokiri, expressed gratitude to God for her recovery, as she thanked all including the doctors who made it possible as she described her recovery as miraculous.
She revealed that when they heard at executive chamber in one of their meetings that Chidinma can see, they all erupted in joy. She noted that God made it possible as she promised to support her in anyway to make her stand on her feet.
The first lady disclosed that there are plans to strengthen the existing laws on protection of the vulnerable groups in the state. She noted that there is a plan to have a summit in the state where traditional rulers, security personnel, women groups among others will attend, adding that the aim is to send a strong message and warning that there will no room for gender based violence in the state.
Speaking, the Special Adviser to the governor on Health Matters, Dr Betty Obasi said they have come to give God thanks for the huge miracle He did for Chidinma.
She hinted that as an eye specialist if you look at her case from medical line it would have been difficult for her to regain her sight but God made it possible.
Lending her voice S.A on Women Affairs, Mrs Chinwe Onyeukwu said today they have gathered from something they are running away from, Gender Based Violence. She noted that what happened to Chidinma was unthinkable especially coming from her husband while hoping that this kind of story will not happen again.
Speaking also, the deputy Manager, Abia State Environmental Protection Agency ASEPA, Catechist Ambrose Jonah who happen to be the chairman of the neighborhood of Chidinma resident before the incident said Chidinma recovery from her toutous experience shows that God has a purpose for her on earth as he prayed that such should not happen again any where.
Adding his voice the traditional ruler of Emede Autonomous community and uncle to the victim, Eze Allen Okpokiri said they often hear such story from afar but shocked that such happen within his autonomous community as Chidinma and husband were living within the area.
He said her nice cannot go ahead with the marriage while adding that’in the first place there was no marriage because no sensible man can treat his wife this way. I remember in the past families go for enquire before marriage could take place but the children of now adays do not want such things and that is why there are problem in marriages.
The wife of the traditional ruler, Ugoeze Nancy Okpokiri thanked the governors wife for the prompt way she responded and ensured that Chidinma was given all she needed to ensure her quick recovery.
She appealed to Mrs Otti to give Chidinma a job in civil service or provide teaching job for her at public school while adding that before the incident she was teaching in private school. She also appealed that she involve ugoezes in all her gender based Program.
Responding, the victim, Chidinma thanked Mrs Otti, her aids and family members for being by her side throughout her ordeal. She appreciated the first lady for paying her hospital bills and also presented her with cash for her upkeep during her visit
She said she is now seeing clearly with one eye but that the doctor promised her that gradually she would see clearly with the other eye.
