The Deputy Governor of Imo state, Her Excellency Lady Chinyere Ihuoma Ekomaru, PhD, has on Tuesday commended on behalf of the Governor, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, private investors in the state, as she commissioned an ultra-modern medical diagnostic laboratory center in Ikeduru, built by Dr. Ophelia Mathews.

“It gladdens my heart to attend functions organised by partners-in-progress of the Shared Prosperity Administration of our dear Governor, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma.

“On behalf of the Governor therefore, I congratulate you on this great feat of opening a diagnostic laboratory in the state – Ophelia Medical Diagnostic Center, Ikeduru.

“The achievement of your parent body – Ophelia Solution Behavioral Hospital in the management of drug addiction and other related mental health challenges is a public knowledge and I believe, this too, will be a success”, she said.

The Deputy Governor expressed delight that Dr. Ophelia Mathews and others are buying into the initiatives of the Governor, especially, in the health sector, as she also commended her for answering the Governor’s call of bringing investment home, while praising her collaboration with government.

“What you are doing today is in tandem with the laudable initiatives of Gov. Hope Uzodimma in the health sector, which includes; rehabilitation and equipping of all the health centers and general hospitals in the state, building and equipping more medical facilities with ultra modern equipments, training of more medical professionals and the unprecedented establishment of the Imo free health insurance scheme, which its enrollment has been massively ongoing across the 27 local government areas of the state.

“Your action is also a response to the Governor’s ‘invest in Imo call’, as he has dutifully provided the enabling business environment, which is further confirmed today, by your investment in the health sector.

“Again, just as you have brought qualified doctors and other health professionals to help alleviate the health challenges of our people through accurate diagnosis, the state has concluded plans to bring in medical experts from India who will spend months in the state to impact our healthcare delivery through effective collaboration with our doctors and training our health professionals not only on recent innovations in medicine but also take them through how they achieve the medical exploits in their country, India.

“Ophelia, your having me here, the Deputy Governor of the state, to perform the singular function of opening your ultra-modern laboratory underscores your readiness to collaborate with government in the wellbeing of our people and that is highly commendable”, she submitted.

“While thanking the facilitators, on behalf of our Governor, Dist. Sen. Hope Uzodimma, I wish you a successful investment, as I declare this medical laboratory, officially open for business, in the name of the father, the son and the holy spirit”, the Deputy Governor, declared.

Dr. Ophelia Mathews, a US trained medical doctor from Ikeduru, commended the Governor and government of Imo state for the great healthcare initiatives, promising to unrelentingly contribute more to assist the government and people of Imo state, noting that, in healthcare services, government cannot do it alone.

The former House member representing Owerri Municipal in the Imo House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Mere praised Governor Hope Uzodimma’s free Health Insurance Scheme in Imo, asserting that Governor Hope Uzodimma has achieved what previous administrations in the state could not actualise.

He confirmed that it is the Governor’s remarkable effort in the health sector and provision of enabling business environment that have opened the floodgate for private investors like Ophelia to the state.

The program facilitator, Dr. Nixon Udejior, acknowledged that the presence of the Deputy Governor, Lady Chinyere Ekomaru in the occasion is a reflection of Governor Hope Uzodimma’s vested interest in the healthcare delivery and the overall welfare of Ndi Imo, as he expressed gratitude to the Governor and the 3-R administration.

Part of the events marking the opening ceremony of the Medical Diagnostic Center is a free medical services for 1000 Imolites.
