In a new twist, the Labour Party, LP, is embroiled in turmoil as the party’s National Treasurer, MrsOluchiOparah, has called on the National Chairman, Julius Abure, to provide a detailed account of party funds amounting to over N3.5bn. This sum is derived from the proceeds of form sales and various fundraisers for the upcoming 2023 general elections.
Oparah voiced her demand during a press conference held in Abuja on Monday.
The treasurer has alleged that Abure obstructed her from fulfilling her constitutionally assigned duties to manage the party’s finances.
Furthermore, Oparah has asserted that the chairman has disregarded all efforts to allow scrutiny of the party’s financial records subsequent to the closure of the expression of interest and nomination forms for the 2023 general elections.
