Imo First Lady Barr Chioma Uzodimma has promised to sponsor ten thousand individuals for free screening across the 27 local government areas of the State.
Chief Barr. Chioma Uzodimma made the promise when she flagged off the Hepatitis C elimination and Hepatitis B control programme in the state at the premises of Imo State Primary Health Care Development Agency, Owerri.
Mrs. Uzodinma who is the Founder, GoodHope Flourish Foundation stated
“This initiative is a reflection of our commitment to public health. Hepatitis B and C lead to cancer death. The disease is hundred times infectious than HIV”.
The First Lady said, “let’s provide care and support to those infested.
The First Lady who’s passionate about the well-being and welfare of Imo citizens said, “disease which can be eliminated, is a viral infection that primarily affects the liver. Let’s create a healthier Imo by tackling the disease”, First Lady submitted.
The Commissioner for Health, Imo State, Dr. Prosper Success said, “The program will provide access, improve medical care, provide data and provision of free drugs”.
Speaking after the event, the Commissioner, ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare, Hon. Lady Nkechinyere Ugwu extolled the Governor’s wife, Barr Mrs Chioma Uzodinma for the laudable initiative. She urged all and sundry to take serious, the screening exercise which is made available by Her Excellency.
