The deputy governor of Imo State, Lady (Dr.) Chinyere Ekomaru has encouraged students and youths in the state to continue their partnership with the state government, especially in the area of promoting and maintaining peace.
Lady Ekomaru gave this encouragement in her address to the members of the National Association of Nigeria Students (NANS), Joint Campus Council (JCC) Imo State and Students Union Government (SUG) of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), who paid her courtesy visit in her office in the Government House, Owerri yesterday.
He appreciated them for contributing greatly to peace and security being enjoyed in the state, describing them as change makers, innovators and problem solvers.
While describing them as the future leaders, he said their voices should be loud in positivity, in academics and everything they do, adding that they should be exemplary.
The deputy governor maintained that Governor Hope Uzodimma is supportive of students and enumerated some of the governor’s youth friendly programmes which include; Establishment of more Universities and tertiary institutions, Skill-up Imo programme.
Earlier in their separate remarks, the Students Union Government (SUG) President of the Federal University of Technology Owerri (FUTO), Owerri Nwosu Stanley Okechukwu and the Vice chairman, National Association of Nigeria Students, Joint Campus Council (JCC), Imo State, Loveday Ugochukwu said they came to familiarize with the deputy governor, towards cementing the relationship between students body and government in the state.
They lauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for his pragmatic governance which has restored calm in the state, while also expressing unreserved appreciation to the governor for the construction of Ihiagwa Road and Bridge, which they also appreciated the fast pace of work on the Bridge.
They poured encomiums on the deputy governor, describing her as the voice of the voiceless, especially for students, saying she is not just the deputy governor, but a model worthy of emulation.
