The Imo State Commissioner of Police, CP. AbokiDanjuma has ordered thorough investigation into the murder of a father of eight children, MrChibugoAmadi who was allegedly murdered by his kinsmen over a land dispute.

The Police Commissioner, while acknowledging a petition from the deceased family, ordered the homicide section of the Command’s Criminal Investigation Department to launch an investigation to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killing.

Speaking to our correspondent the wife of the deceased, ChinonyeAmadi in the company of three out of her eight children, narrated that the incident took place at their Village, Umuora in IsialaMbano LGA, Imo State where she said her husband’s killers conspired and murdered him.

“They stripped him naked, hitting him with weapons as he collapsed and died in their hands.”she lamented.

MrsAmadi disclosed that the problem started on April 3 ,2025 when her husband disagreed with his younger brother, EzemonyeAmadi over a land matter.

She said that the dispute later resulted in a fight leading to her husband inflicting injuries on his younger brother but afraid of revenge, her husband ran away from the community.

“In his absence, his kinsmen convened and adjudicated the matter, imposing a fine of #850,000 on him they conspired among themselves and sold my husband’s four plots of land at an undervalue price of #200,000, each plot in an area where a plot of land goes for #1, 500,000.

The money realized from the sale was paid to my husband’s younger brother as compensation for the injuries he sustained from my late husband.

“Despite accepting all actions taken by his kinsmen in his absence, my husband was lured back to the Community under the guise of a final settlement but upon his return, he was forcefully taken to MkpachaUmuora where he was subjected to torture which resulted to his death”she further disclosed.”

In supporting the statement earlier made by the wife of the deceased, an activist ChidiebubeOkeoma, who is the founder of Stand for Humanity Foundation, told Journalists in Owerri that the killers of the woman’s husband allegedly dumped the deceased in a morgue and fled after doctors confirmed him dead in a hospital they rushed him to.

Okeoma, said that while the villagers were beating the deceased they were recording the proceedings and displaying it on social media platforms.

He disclosed that the suspects whose faces are conspicuous in the video clips showing how they killed the deceased, tried to lie that the deceased fell from a tree when his 18 year- old son met them at a hospital in Okwelle in Onuimo Local Government Area where they rushed him to.

“We have undertaken the matter and the petition written by our legal adviser,ChijiokeOnwubuariri to the CP has been approved. It is an intentional murder. We have video clips of how they deliberately murdered him.

The spokesperson for the State Police Command, Henry Okoye, has assured that justice would be served in the matter.
