Imo State House of assembly on Thursday during plenary session condemned the gruesome murder of a pregnant woman identify as Mrs Chinwendu Amadi from Awogu -Logara in Ngor -Okpala Local Government Area by unknown assailants at Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport Owerri.
The House also called on security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation of the heinous crime, identify the perpetrators and ensure that they face the full consequences of the law.
The House resolved to urge the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) to construct a perimeter fence within the airport premises, to enhance security and prevent unauthorized access to airport facilities.
This was contain in a motion moved by the member representing Ngor -Okpala state constituency, Hon Obinna Egu .
Presenting the motion. Hon Egu noted that penultimate week, a horrific and senseless crime was perpetrated at the runway side of Sam Mbakwe International Cargo Airport Owerri , resulting in the tragic murder of a pregnant woman, identified as Mrs Chinwendu Amadi.
The lawmaker regretted that the brutal killing of Mrs Chinwendu has sent shockwaves throughout the airport and surrounding communities , inciting widespread outrage and condemnation and it is particularly heartbreaking to acknowledge that the victim’s unborn child was also lost in the despicable act.
He Commended the Police,Army and other security agencies in the state for their bravery and commitment to maintain law and order and safeguard citizens and infrastructure in the face of such brazen atrocity.
