It was jubilation galore yesterday as the House Member representing Owerri North State Constituency at Imo State House of Assembly, Hon Kelechi Ofurum empowered 64 women in the area with POS Machines and as well embarked on training the women on POS business.
Speaking during the empowerment programme at his residence in Owerri North LGA,Hon Ofurum said that the gesture is part of his efforts to tackle poverty in the area.
Hon Ofurum noted that at the end of the training, each beneficiary will receive the sum of 50 thousand naira to kick start the POS business and urged them to see the training as an opportunity for them to become useful to themselves.
The lawmaker expressed his determination to embark on more empowerment programmes in order to move the area forward, adding that the beneficiaries were selected from various wards in Owerri North LGA.
In his speech one of the beneficiaries, Miss FavourOparacommended Hon Ofurum for such a wonderful gesture and pray God to bless him.
Those present during the empowerment programme include: the coordinator of the programme,Hon Lambert Iwueke ,Hon AnyasodoNdiezeIkechukwu, Hon Patrick Obiakor,Hon Stella Opara,MrsAnuolu Christiana ,Hon MrsAnyanwu Victoria,Hon Boniface Ibegbulam etc.
