….As Anglican Church Umuokanne marks 100 years of existence
Imo State Deputy Governor, Lady (Dr.) Chinyere Ekomaru, has made an appeal to the people of Ohaji/Egbema to help safeguard government properties in their area, maintaining that the Governor, Senator Hope Uzodimma is committed to sustaining development and safety of citizens in all the nook and cranny of Imo State.
The Deputy Governor made this call as the Anglican Church celebrates 100 years of existence in Umuokanne, held at the Cathedral of St. Peters Anglican Church, Umuokanne Ohaji, on Sunday.
She echoed that the 3R Shared Prosperity Administration of Governor Hope Uzodimma is on a mission of infrastructural revolution in the state, asserting that before the end of the administration, there will be total transformation in not only the oil communities but the entire state.
The Deputy Governor, who represented the state Governor at the event, while congratulating the body of Christ for attaining such fit, called on them to keep praying for Imo state, Nigeria and the world at large.
“Pray for our nation and leaders at this perilous time. We need prayers in the state, our nation, Nigeria and the world at large. Only our prayers will bring down God’s mercifulness and guide our leaders well.
“You have won souls for Christ, and built a benefiting place of worship, your faith in God and dedication to his work have been remarkable”, the Deputy Governor said.
She also used the occasion to remind the people to register in the ongoing free health insurance scheme provided by the State Governor, reminding them that it’s only the living that praises God, while she called on Christians to keep sustaining the light of the gospel in every aspect of their life.
Earlier in his gospel with the theme: “Sustaining the Light of the Gospel in our Time”, the Bishop of Ohaji/Egbema Anglican Diocese, Rt. Rev. Chidi Collins Oparaojiaku stressed what they are enjoying today is the labour of the past, informing that the Anglican church was built on the rock of God, and that anything anchored on the rock of Christ must succeed, as he called on Christians to always put their hopes and thoughts in Christ Jesus, “the Solid Rock”.
He also thanked God for blessing Umuokanne people with faithful christians, abundant natural resources and sustaining their commitment to God.
Dignitaries from all walks of life graced the occasion, including the husband of the Deputy Governor, His Excellency Chief (Barr) Chukwuma Ekomaru, SAN, former minister of State for Education, Rt. Hon. Goodluck Nana Opiah, former Imo State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Noel AgwuochaChukwukadibia, former Imo House of Assembly Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Jonas Okeke, State Government Appointees, among others.
