The Coalition of Societies For The Protection Of Older Persons Rights (COSROPIN), Imo state chapter has celebrated the senior citizens by providing them indoor games, free medical outreach and health talk.

Speaking in Owerri, during the event that was tagged: “Older Persons ‘s Handout” , organized by COSROPIN for the senior citizens, the state coordinator of COSROPIN, Barr Mrs Ngozi Njoku, noted that is was necessary to celebrate and appreciate the efforts of the senior citizens.

She advised them to stick to their medication and exercise their body so as to look healthy and safe.

Barr Njoku, appreciated who that graced the occasion. She prayed God for blessing and strength upon the senior citizens.

In his welcome address, the state chairman of Nigerian Union Of Pensioners (NUP), Dr J . B Ugochukwu, thanked the organisers of the event for remembering the senior citizens. He maintained that the efforts of the pensioners cannot be over emphasized.

He advised the senior citizens to always visit the state secretariat to enjoy the free medical care and the indoor games.

Flagging off the free medical care, the Imo Commissioner For Health, Barr Prosper Ohayagha, Commended the past efforts of state government to the senior citizens. He assured them that their welfare and benefits was sure as far as the 3R government was concerned.

He advised them to indulge in physical exercise and take their free medical outreach and health insurance scheme serious .
