The Chairman of Oru West Local Government and Chairman of the Imo State Association of Local Government of Nigeria, (ALGON), Dr. Anthony Ikenna Adikibe has disclosed that the ongoing Imo State Health Insurance scheme by ably championed Governor Hope Uzodimma has led to the reduction of infant and maternal deaths in the State.
Adikibe insisted that citizens of Imo State in general and Oru West in particular must seize the opportunity to register and enjoy the full benefits of the government program.
Speaking when he received in audience the Oru West APC Women Leaders in his office at Mgbidi, Dr. Adikibe said that Senator Hope Uzodimma’s major target for the scheme were pregnant women, mothers and children in all the communities in Imo State.
According to him the health insurance program had seen many rural women who would not have been able to afford surgery receive first class attention because of registration in the insurance scheme.
He described the governor as a pragmatist and statesman whose focus is the well-being of his people.
Dr. Adikibe, who was recently voted in as the Deputy National President of ALGON urged the APC Women to go to the grassroots and encourage people to get involved in the scheme for their own good.
“The second phase of the registration in the health insurance scheme is going to kickoff soon and many people will be surprised at the package the governor is going to introduce to it. This is why you people should spread the good news at the grassroots.
“His Excellency Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma is not joking. He means everything he says about the scheme. So as women leaders you must key in to it and spread the good news to those living in the rural areas”
The Chairman further promised the women that he will take a tour of the council areas in solidarity with them to commemorate the 2025 August Meeting exercise.
Earlier the leader of the Women Delegation Mrs Ify Obi showered encomium on Engr. Adikibe for his good working relationship with Women of Oru- West especially the APC extraction and beyond.
She pledged their unalloyed support to the Council’l boss, pointing to his generosity to women in the area as worthy of emulation by others.
The Women delegation included Hon. (Mrs) Asiegbulem Ngozi, Hon. Okafor Nkechi, Hon. Ijeoma biakor, Hon. Igweoji Blessing, Hon. Ebubedike Angelina, Hon. Amaechi Ifeoma, Hon. Obiesie Nneka, Hon. Igwegbe Anthonia, Hon. Nwano Theresa, Hon. Ezuruike Nkechi, Hon. Nwahubere Grace, Hon. Ngozi Aguocha, Hon. Ngozi Ejimofor, Hon. Mgbenani Hope, Hon. Obioha Obigaeli, Hon. Adaeze Obioma, Hon. Nwaowu Vivian, Hon. Eze Ngozi and Hon. Ukandu Ezichi among others.
