The Management of the Eastern Waste Management Company (EWMCO) has paid a working visit to the Head of Service Barrister Raymond Ucheoma at the State Secretariat Complex, Owerri.
Barrister Ucheoma enjoined the company to always prioritize the cleanliness and evacuation of refuse within the Secretariat, city and state in the course of discharging their duties.
The Head of Service stressed that the change in Management from ISWAMA to Eastern Waste Management Company was designed by His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma, Governor of Imo State to make the State the best in the Country in terms of sanitation, hygiene and well being towards having a healthy citizenry. He encouraged all citizens to make the task of the new company successful.
He assured that his office would collaborate with the new company in the area of human capital development as well as competent advisory personnel to help sustain their activities.
Earlier, the Deputy Managing Director of Eastern Waste Management Company, Mr. Agbi Isi disclosed that the organization has taken over the responsibilities of the Imo State Waste Management Agency (ISWAMA).
He added that his crew were in the State Secretariat to enumerate the bin spots and approximate volume of refuse generated periodically as well as stipulate the bills for their services.
Present at the event were the Acting Permanent Secretaries: Establishment, Office of the Head of Service, Dr. Ezioma De-Nwigwe; Ministry of Works, Engr. Nwagwu Elias Nwaneri and Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Egbuka Blessing.
