A one day media Sumit organized by Daily Nigerian Horn Newspaper in conjunction with the Southeast Media Practitioners, has ended in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

In his opening remarks, chairman of the planning committee, Kennedy Eweama, said, essence of the summit was to create a paradigm shift and to re-orientate the psych of media practitioners that what he can be done other areas could be done in Owerri.

“We have the best brains in the Journalism profession also in the southeast, there is an innovation the Horn Newspaper is bringing in the Southeast.

In his lecture, the Former Governor Ikedi Ohakim, ably represented by Barr. Austin Otuokere, who spoke on the topic, “Ndi Igbo and Media Digitalization In The 21st Century”, stressed the importance of digital Journalism in the 21st century, urging Journalists, especially those that are operating in the analogue system, to adapt to the digital Journalism.

He said, the role played by the media can not be over -emphasized and therefore regretted that Daily Sun is the only national newspaper owned by a Southeast person whii promotes the region.

The Governor who use the opportunity to call for a minute observation for the passing of the Ohaneze Ndigbo President General, Late Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, noted, that the deceased was projecting the Southeast through his Champion Newspaper which according to him, has stopped coming online.

He thanked President Tinubu for signing into law, the Southeast Development Commission, and also lauded Governor Hope Uzodimma for his love for Journalists in the State.

Earlier in his speech while receiving award, Governor Hope Uzodimma, represented by the Commissioner for Information, Strategy and Public Orientation, Hon. Declan Emelumba, commended Horn Newspapers for organizing Media Summit for the Southeast Media Practitioners, describing it as laudable.

Governor Uzodimma commended the organizers for the Sumit that was well- attended and promised to collaborate and support them to actualize their dreams.

“The Media is capital intensive, highly competitive and one that need competent professionals, intelligent persons that know the job.

The summit attracted Journalists in the State ,as well as friends of the media professionals.

Others that were honoured at the ceremony were the Chief Ejike Chukwu, Hon. Calista Anele, an aspirant for Oguta Chairmanship seat, Eze Dr. Oliver Ohanwe and other dignitaries.
