…hosts Beauty, Fashion Summit team

The Deputy Governor of Imo State, Lady (Dr) Chinyere Ekomaru has posited that beauty and fashion help to enhance health and prolong life.

The Deputy Governor made this assertion in her address to the organizing team of Beauty and Fashion Summit, slated for November 2025 in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

The team was led by the convener of the summit, Mrs Faith Raymond, who doubles as the founder of the Beauty and Fashion Academy.

She counted them lucky to be in the current generation, known as Gen Z, where they are allowed freedom to explore their talents, creativity, fashion and beauty to any level and mode they desire, unlike in her own generation when there was lots of restrictions.

Lady Ekomaru stressed that the present state government, under the leadership of Governor Hope Uzodimma has created an enabling atmosphere for youths to explore their talents in different fields, including beauty and fashion, with the creation of Ministry of Youths Development and Talent Hunt, Ministry of E-Government and Digital Economy, the Skill-up Imo programme, among others avenues.

She congratulated the team for the effort which she noted will positively engage young ones and keep them away from crime, assuring them of her willingness to attend the summit, barring any unforeseen circumstances.

Earlier in her address, convener of the summit, Faith Raymond, informed the deputy governor that the summit was intended to provide an empowering platform for learning, collaboration and innovation.

“Your Excellency, our goal is not just to host a successful summit, it is to build a movement that places Imo State on the map as a hub for creativity, dignity and economic advancement, adding, “with a projected audience of 1000 attendees, and strong community engagement,  this summit has the potential to boost tourism, inspire youth-led innovation and foster greater industry visibility for our dear state “.

Raymond disclosed that the summit will bring together; beauty and fashion professionals, thought leaders, entrepreneurs, students and aspiring creatives, to explore themes around digital transformation, sustainable fashion, personal branding, leadership and wellness.

She added, “In addition to the knowledge sharing session and industry showcases, the 2025 summit will also spotlight and honour the most outstanding students of the year from the beauty and fashion academy”.

She listed other events that will feature during the summit to include; skill-based competition for emerging makeup artists, where the top three winners will receive start-up kits and seed grants to support their transition into entrepreneurship.
