The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has expressed confidence in its ability to retain control of Anambra State in the November 8, 2025 governorship election, describing itself as the most stable political party in Nigeria.

In an exclusive interview with newsmen, Ejimofor-Opara, the National Publicity Secretary of APGA, highlighted the party’s ideological commitment to fostering a progressive society and emphasized its 18 years of uninterrupted leadership in Anambra State.

Ejimofor-Opara pointed to significant achievements in education, health, and agriculture, citing the employment of 5,000 qualified teachers within the first five months of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s administration as an example of APGA’s commitment to development.

“Anambra has been on a steady course of development under APGA’s leadership. If the election were held tomorrow, we are prepared,” he stated, dismissing APC’s claims of being capable of taking over the state.

He described APGA as a people-centered party, emphasizing that its governance prioritizes both infrastructure development and the welfare of the people.

Speaking on the upcoming election, Ejimofor-Opara dismissed the APC’s ambitions in Anambra, asserting that APGA’s internal stability and intact membership would ensure its continued dominance.

“Talk is cheap. APGA’s house is in order, and our membership remains intact. Anambra voters have seen the tangible benefits of our leadership, and they are in high spirits to support us again,” he said.

Ejimofor-Opara reiterated APGA’s call for true federalism, advocating for a system where states control their resources and determine their internal governance.

“APGA calls for a federalism where the federating units are empowered to decide and manage what works best for them. Beyond infrastructure, we focus on people’s welfare, which reflects our motto: ‘Be your brother’s and sister’s keeper.’”

He argued that granting states control over their resources and policing would lead to greater development and address insecurity more effectively.

Addressing perceptions that APGA is limited to the Southeast, Ejimofor-Opara highlighted the party’s national footprint, citing its representation in Benue, Bayelsa, and Niger States.

“It’s incorrect to say APGA is confined to the Southeast. We’ve had federal legislators in other regions, and we continue to expand our national influence”, he explained.

Ejimofor-Opara acknowledged past leadership crises but emphasized that APGA remains ideologically driven and has emerged stronger from its challenges.

“Every leadership challenge we face makes us better. We are the only political party formed within the same period that is still standing strong today,” he added.

On the petroleum industry, Ejimofor-Opara expressed optimism that fuel prices would decrease as competition increases and more refineries become operational, likening the process to the early days of GSM technology.
