It was jubilation galore at the Ministry of Education, State Secretariat, Portharcourt road when the Commissioner for Primary and Secondary Education, Professor Johncliff Nwadike received in audience the All Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, Imo chapter, who came to present two trophies and two students from Government College Secondary School Owerri who emerged first positions in Essay writing and Quiz Competition at Moshud Abiola Stadium Abuja on the 26th of June 2024.

Welcoming the ANCOPSS and the students in his office, Professor Johncliff Nwadike out of excitement embraced the students and vacated his sits for the students to sit on them, saying that from now on, they have become Commissioners.

He congratulated the students for making Imo State , their tutors and their families proud while he narrated how His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Hope Uzodimma was overwhelmed with joy when he heard about the victory, adding that the students have made a national and state record.

The students were Master Duru Kingsely, of Senior Secondary in Government Secondary School Owerri who hails from Achi Mbieri in Mbaitolu Local government area, got the first position in Essay writing Competition while Master Okwudiri Oscar who got first in Quiz Competition hails from Umualumoke in Okigwe L.G.A, Imo State.

This Competition was organized by ANCOPSS, it is tagged: ‘ÀLL Nigerian Confederation of Principals of Secondary Schools, National Essay writing and Quiz Competition for Secondary Schools in Nigeria.

Commissioner Nwadike used the opportunity to harp on Peace and Unity amongst ANCOPSS, adding that where there is peace, there is Unity, and where there is unity, there is progress.

”Try to inculcate Peaceful attitude amongst you, because with Love, Peace and Unity, we can achieve a lot as an Igbo adage says, ”O si taa di mma , ya diri gawazie’ and ‘the more we are together, the happier we shall be”, He stressed.

In her enthusiasm, the Permanent Secretary (covering duty) to the ministry, Chinyere Ibe Esq , rejoiced with the students and their tutor Mrs Ike Kindness who took the students to Abuja ,for “making us proud.” She appreciated God for leading them to and from Abuja and thanked the teachers for job well done.
