Stakeholders under the umbrella of the Anambra Coalition for Progressive Change on Wednesday purchased the N50 million Nomination and Expression of Interest forms for a leading governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and Chairman of United Nigeria Airlines, Prof. Obiora Okonkwo.

Okonkwo is seeking the APC governorship ticket to challenge Governor Chukwuma Soludo in the November 8, 2025 election.

The coalition, which includes lecturers, traders, activists, and professionals, picked up the forms at the APC national secretariat in Abuja.

Speaking after the official presentation of the forms, Chief Cyril Ezeani, the delegation’s leader, said Okonkwo is the right person to replace Soludo, citing security concerns and poor governance in the state.

His words: “Anambra is being ruled by people who don’t have business in governance. Soludo has not given us what we want, and security remains a major concern. That is why we believe Prof. Okonkwo is the right man to lead the state.”

Ezeani stated that Okonkwo is a long-time APC member, not just another politician looking to exploit governance for personal gain.

A senior lecturer at Veritas University, Dr. Christy Frederick, also endorsed Okonkwo, stressing the importance of women’s inclusion in leadership and calling him the solution to Anambra’s economic and security challenges.

“You must diagnose a problem before you treat it, and Okonkwo knows what Anambra needs. He has the technical expertise to lead,” Frederick said.

Reacting to the gesture, Okonkwo expressed gratitude and vowed not to betray the trust placed in him.

“I am encouraged. If there was any doubt before, your action today has erased it. With the APC ticket, I will deliver a landslide victory,” he stated.

Okonkwo, from Idemili North, added that he is confident of winning at least 15 out of 21 local government areas in the election.
